Dixon Place's new venue, located at 161 Chrystie Street, is in one of NYC's most vibrant artistic communities. The new bi-level accessible space is a flexible state-of-the-art laboratory theater. The New York Times called the new theater "astonishing" and said that because of the new space, "Dixon Place will rival any experimental theater in New York." Please consider supporting this important new space for downtown theater and the Project Footlight festival through a donation to the Dixon Place Capital Campaign today.

  • The main stage theater is a beautifully designed space for artists to create and collaborate. Rigged for flight, the theater has cutting edge technology and flexible stage layouts. This kind of space will be the first of its kind in New York City dedicated to emerging artists. The bi-level design includes dressing rooms, restrooms, technical and storage areas and flexible seating for up to 130 audience members. Theater technology includes state of the art lighting, sound & video equipment, internet connectivity & a direct feed into the recording studio directly above the mainstage theater.
  • The lounge will serve as the entrance to the theater and a meeting place for artists and audiences. With a bar and an auxiliary stage, the lounge will provide earned income in the evenings, and serve as a community center by day, housing our free senior and youth theatre workshops.
  • The rehearsal studio on the lower level is available to performing artists at subsidized rates and also functions as a studio for DP artists free of charge.
  • The office accommodates the increased staffing required for the new facility and includes state-of-the-art technology and telecommunications for all operational needs.
